• 1 pound cut up chocolate or chocolate chips
• Your choice of toppings (see variations)

Directions

• Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
• Melt chocolate in a heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring with a silicone spatula or in the microwave according to package directions.
• Spread melted chocolate onto prepared baking sheet to about 1/8 to 1/4-inch thickness. (It doesn’t need to take up the whole surface and it doesn’t need to be a perfect shape.)
• Sprinkle with toppings and refrigerate until set.
• Break into irregular pieces and store in the refrigerator.
• Use 12 ounces white chocolate or white chocolate chips and stir in 1/2 teaspoon pure peppermint extract. Spread on pan. Drizzle with 4 ounces melted semisweet chocolate, then sprinkle with about 3 Tablespoons crushed peppermint candies (starlight mints or candy canes).
• Use bittersweet chocolate and sprinkle with 1/2 cup each chopped roasted almonds and dried cherries or cherry flavored cranberries and about 1 teaspoon Maldon or other coarse salt.
• Use semisweet, bittersweet or white chocolate and sprinkle with about 1 cup of a combination of coconut, chopped apricots, raisins, sunflower and pumpkin seeds.
