    • 2 cups Flour
    • 1/2 tsp Salt
    • 1 cup Sugar
    • 1 tsp Vanilla

Directions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper. 2. Cream together shortening and sugar. Add egg, molasses and vanilla and mix well.  3. In a separate bowl, sift together dry ingredients and add to molasses mixture. Mix well. 4. Form dough into small 1-inch balls and dip one side of each dough ball in sugar. Place dough balls sugar-side up 2 inches apart on parchment-lined cookie sheets. Do not flatten. 5. Bake cookies 7 to 9 minutes or until lightly browned.  6. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely and store in an air tight container.
