Description

Life...one dash at a time

Ingredients

  • 24 pieces of salami, sliced thinly (I used Columbus pre-sliced Italian Dry Salame)
  • 10 cherry tomatoes (or 1-2 medium tomatoes), sliced into small pieces
  • 8-10 basil leaves, chopped
  • 12-14 medium jalapenos, halved with seeds and veins removed
  • 1 8-ounce block cream cheese, softened
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 6-7 slices Columbus Salami
  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 16 slices Columbus Salami
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 6 slices sourdough bread
  • 6 ounces deli meat (I used Columbus Honey Roasted Turkey Breast)
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese
  • Butter

Directions

  • Place the salami on a lined cookie sheet and bake at 350 for approximately 30 minutes, or until crispy.
  • Combine the tomatoes and basil in a small dish and mix well.
  • Place a small amount of the tomato/basil mix on each salami and serve.
  • Place the slices of salami on a lined cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 30 minutes, or until crispy.
  • Meanwhile, place the cream cheese and mozzarella in a small bowl and mix until well combined.
  • Fill the jalapeno halves with the cheese mixture.
  • Once the salami is crispy, pat the pieces dry and crumble into bite-sized pieces.
  • Top each jalapeno with a small amount of crumbled salami.
  • Place jalapenos on lined baking sheet and bake at 350 for 28-20 minutes, or until cheese mixture turns golden brown.
  • Serve warm.
  • Slice the sourdough bread into football shaped pieces. (I was able to get 2 football pieces out of each slice.)
  • Toast these pieces for about 3-4 minutes, or until slightly crispy
  • Meanwhile, cut the salami into football shaped pieces.
  • Place a piece of salami on each piece of toast.
  • Fill a sandwich bag with sour cream. Cut a small tip off of the corner, and pipe laces onto each piece.
  • Preheat grill pan on stovetop.
  • Butter each slice of sourdough bread.
  • Place the buttered side down and top with deli meat and cheese.
  • Place 2nd piece of bread on top, buttered side up.
  • Carefully place each sandwich onto the preheated grill pan.
  • Allow to cook for 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Remove from pan and slice each sandwich into quarters. Serve warm.
