Copy Cat Cracker Barrel Fried Apples

  • 6 Apples - sliced into, medium tart

• Condiments

  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice

• Baking & Spices

  • 1/4 cup Bacon grease - that's from
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon, ground
  • 1 dash Nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp Salt

• Other

  • 1 Large skillet w/ lid

Ingredients

• 6-8 medium tart apples - sliced into 8-10 slices per apple (Cracker Barrel leaves the peel on - you can peel them if you prefer)
• 1/4 c. of bacon grease - thats from about 3 strips of cooked bacon (you can substitute butter)
• 1 Tbsp. of lemon juice
• 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
• 1/8 tsp. salt
• 1 tsp. of ground cinnamon
• 1 dash (about 1/8 tsp.) of nutmeg
• 1 large skillet w/ lid

Directions

• In your large skillet, over med/highe heat, add the bacon grease (or butter) Spread the apple slices around the skillet Add the lemon juice, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg Bring everything to a boil, then reduce, cover and simmer for about 15 minutes. Enjoy with or without vanilla ice cream! Yum!
