Description

My husband and I raise cattle on our farm here in southwestern Ontario, so its no surprise that were fond of these saucy meatballs. I know your family will like them, too. —Marion Foster, Kirkton, Ontario

Delish. I did cut the honey just a bit. Will make these again for sure.

I could give this a higher rating, but 1/2 cup of honey made this way too sweet for us. Cut back the honey and enjoy the twang!

Easy to make and tasty.

Great. I used ground venison instead of ground beef.

Really good. Will definitely make again. The last batch of garlic I purchased was a bit stronger than typical and I think it impacted the overall flavor of these so would like to try again with a good batch.

Good, easy recipe. The taste was a little strong from the soy sauce, so I might reduce that a little next time.

I made these last night. They are a little bit messy to make but they were a big hit to eat. I didnt have a baking rack like the recipe calls for, so I just baked them on a cookie sheet (or two). I made 24 good-sized meatballs and still had extra meat mixture left. Hubby had two sandwiches for dinner and hit up the leftovers already for breakfast. My son liked it as a sandwich and over rice as well.

Delicious!!! You gotta try this recipe??????

This recipe is great. It is fairly easy to follow and make. I love the sweet & slightly tangy taste. I did find the meat mixture to wet to form balls, so added an extra pound of hamburger and 1/2 cup bread crumbs, still a little too wet but balls could be formed. I served them over spaghetti, that was okay but I think the next time I make this I will serve them over rice with a spinach salad on the side. Also I will double the sauce. This is a definite keeper and will be making again.

Really delicious, we could not stop eating them! Followed the recipe exactly and it was amazing!

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce

Directions

  • Directions In a large bowl, combine eggs and milk. Add the bread crumbs, onion and salt. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into 1-in. balls. Place on greased racks in shallow baking pans. Bake, uncovered, at 400° for 12-15 minutes or until meat is no longer pink. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, saute garlic in butter until tender. Stir in the ketchup, honey and soy sauce. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Drain meatballs; add to sauce. Carefully stir to evenly coat. Cook for 5-10 minutes. Yield: 5-1/2 dozen.
