Delicious savoury meat pie

Ingredients

  • 2 tbs of olive oil
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 pounds ground pork
  • 2 medium onions
  • 3 cloves of garlics ( minced)
  • 4 pounds of pastry dough
  • 4 tbs of ground sage
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of black pepper
  • 1 tsp of onion salt
  • 1 tsp of poultry seasoning
  • 1/4 cup fresh chopped parsley
  • 2 pounds of potatoes
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 4 tbs of butter

Directions

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil.
  • Add onions and garlic and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add the beef and pork meat and cook until browned, about 10 minutes.
  • Once the meat is fully cooked, drain the fat.
  • Add the sage, poultry seasoning, parsley, salt and pepper and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and reserve.
  • Cook the potatoes in salty water until fully cooked.
  • Drain the water and then mash the potatoes with the butter and milk until smooth.
  • Mix the potatoes into the meat mixture, combine well.
  • Roll out the pastry and place into a pie dish and then fill it with the meat mixture.
  • Using water and your finger, wet the edge of the pastry before placing the top pastry
  • ( this will help the pastry to stick together) place the top pastry and trim excess pastry with a knife around edges and then with your fingers press all around the edge to seal the two layers together.
  • Make a few slits into the top of the pastry.
  • Brush the egg wash on top of the pie.
  • Bake in preheated oven at 350F for 45 to 50 minutes.
  • Serves: 3 large meat pie
