Mom's Easy Microwave Caramel Corn

  • 1 cup Brown sugar, dark
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Description

Ingredients

• ½ cup popcorn kernels, air popped plain OR 2 regular bags of plain microwave popcorn
• 1 stick butter
• 1 cup dark brown sugar
• ¼ cup light corn syrup
• ½ tsp. salt
• ½ tsp. baking soda

Directions

• Pop popcorn in air popper or microwave bags and place in large, paper grocery bag. Set aside.
• In a large microwavable glass measuring cup or bowl, place butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt (do not add baking soda yet). Microwave on high for 1 minute, then stir.
• Cook on high 2 more minutes, then stir in baking soda. Pour syrup over popcorn in paper bag. Roll down the top of the bag and shake well.
• Place closed bag in microwave and cook for 1½ minutes. Remove and shake well.
• Flip bag over and cook again for 1½ minutes. Remove and shake well.
• Flip bag over and cook for 45 seconds.
• Shake and pour on ungreased cookie sheet to cool.
• Store in airtight container.
