Easy Recipes For Those Who Like To cook and Bake

Best Sugar Cookies, just like Grandma makes!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened (2 sticks)
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 cups flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cream of tarter
  • To decorate: red and green colored sugar

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Cream granulated sugar, butter and vanilla by hand or in a KitchenAid.
  • Add powdered sugar, oil and eggs.
  • Sift together (in a separate bowl) flour, salt, baking soda and cream of tartar.
  • Slowly add to wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Add a cup of dry ingredient mixture at a time, mixing after each addition.
  • Form rounded teaspoonfuls into balls and place on ungreased Cookie Sheets.
  • Using a moistened paper towel wet the bottom of a glass, dip in colored sugar (re-dipping for each cookie) and flatten ball of dough. You may need to apply the moistened paper towel every so often, to keep glass wet and easily able to pick up sugar crystals.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 11-13 minutes or until edges turn slightly brown. Remove immediately from cookie sheet and cool on wire rack.
