Description

We discovered this recipe in Mexico. We couldnt figure out what made this French toast so delicious until we learned the secret was vanilla—one of Mexicos most popular flavorings. Since then, weve added a touch of vanilla to our waffle and pancake recipes. It makes them all very tasty. —Joe and Bobbi Schott, Castroville, Texas

This recipe gives you a basic french toast. It is a good recipe if you want something simple to try. The sugar gives the toast some sweetness while the vanilla adds a nice mellow vanilla flavor. I did add cinnamon and sugar to the top of mine for added flavor.

Delicious and simple! Only thing I mixed up was using skim milk instead of 2%. My young daughters are picky eaters and were hesitant to try it, so I cut it into french toast sticks and they gobbled it right up. Will definitely be making this one again!!!

Simple and easily adaptable to a larger family. I used vanilla almond milk in lieu of regular milk in order to get a more vanilla flavor. I also used a chocolate chip bread for fun and my kids loved it. Each ate at least 2 slices and my 2 year old labelled it Super Awesome and cleaned his plate. Love an easy meal where no one complains. A keeper!

Ive been using vanilla extract for years, but try maple along with the vanilla extract. I did this when my daughter was small and we had to leave early, she could have her french toast in the car with no mess. I made bunches and just froze them, worked well just dropping them into the toaster. Also, Ive been using Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Bean Paste recently and it is an improvement over the extract. Enjoy!

Loved the flavor the vanilla gives it.

Delicious. Used a tad less sugar, but doubled the vanilla extract. Try almond extract sometime!

I added evaporated milk instead of regular milk and added cinnamon sugar instead of white sugar It was to die for!! ;)

I followed the recipe and added a bit of cinnamon to the batter. Very easy to make.

This is the french toast of my childhood! So that means it was perfect in every way. Simple to make and oh so satisfying. Change nothing and you will have a happy meal.

A really easy and delicious French toast recipe. I used brioche and skim milk. I would have used egg substitute, but my daughter wouldnt let me!
