Description

Ingredients

• 2 cups / 250g all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon / 3g active dry yeast
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon olive oil + 1½ teaspoons olive oil for brushing the dough
• ¾ cup / 150ml lukewarm water
• 1 teaspoon zaatar spice blend

Directions

• Mix all the dry ingredients (except the zaatar) for the dough in a large bowl, then add the wet ingredients (except the 1½ teaspoons olive oil for brushing the dough) and knead by hand until a soft dough firms or put them in a kitchen machine and let the machine knead the dough for you. You might have use more water or more flour to form a smooth, non-sticky dough.
• Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let it sit in a warm place until it doubles in size (for about 1-2 hours).
• Preheat the oven to 250 °C or 480 °F.
• Roll out the dough on a floured baking sheet, like you would with pizza, and brush the dough with the olive oil. Sprinkle the zaatar on top.
• With a pizza cutter, cut the dough in strips. Pop it in the oven for about 15 minutes, until it gets a nice golden color. Done!
