Baked Maple Bacon Donuts

  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg, ground

  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • 3/8 cup White sugar

  • 1 1/2 tsp Butter
  • 3/8 cup Buttermilk

Ingredients

• 1 c flour
• ¼ c plus 2 T white sugar
• 1 t baking powder
• ¼ t ground nutmeg
• ¼ t ground cinnamon
• ½ t salt
• ¼ c plus 2 T buttermilk
• 1 egg, beaten
• ½ t vanilla
• 1½ t butter, melted
• 4-5 strips of bacon, cooked

Directions

• Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
• Lightly grease donut pan.
• In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt.
• In a small bowl, stir together the buttermilk, egg, vanilla, and butter.
• Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir with a wooden spoon until fully incorporated.
• Fill the donut pan and bake for 10 minutes or until lightly browned and cooked through.
• Remove from the oven and cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
• Glaze and top with crumbled or chopped bacon.
