Ingredients

    • 1 powder tsp Coriander
    • 1/2 tsp Ginger paste or grated ginger
    • 1 Green chili
    • 1 Green chilies - 1, small
  • Condiments

    • 1 tsp Ginger paste
    • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • Pasta & Grains

    • 1 cup Rice, cooked
  • Baking & Spices

    • 1 pinch Baking soda
    • 2 tbsp Besan or chickpea flour
    • 1/8 tsp Mustard seeds
    • 1 tsp Red chile powder
    • 2 Salt
    • 1/8 tsp Sugar
    • 1/2 powder tsp Turmeric
  • Oils & Vinegars

    • 1 tbsp Oil
  • Nuts & Seeds

    • 3/4 powder tsp Cumin
  • Dairy

    • 1/4 cup Yogurt
  • Frozen

    • 4 Curry, leaves
  • Liquids

    • 1 cups Water
  • Other

    • Whole wheat flour or atta - 2 tablespoons

US measuring cups are used (1 cup = 240 ml)

Directions

  • Take all the ingredients listed under ‘for muthia’ in a bowl.
  • Mix well and make dough kind mixture without adding any water.
  • Shape the small sized muthias and keep it aside.
  • Take yogurt and all the spice powders with salt in a bowl. Mix well and make thin batter by adding water.
  • Heat the oil in a pan on medium heat.
  • Once add mustard seeds, let them pop. Then add cumin seeds, let them sizzle.
  • Then saute in green chilies and ginger paste. After that add curry leaves.
  • Then add prepared yogurt mixture and bring it to a boil.
  • Make sure that heat is on medium-high. Once it starts boiling, add muthia one by one.
  • Let it boil and keep cooking, if it dries up then add more water. and keep boiling till muthias are cooked.
  • It took me 15 minutes, but depends on the size of the muthia.
  • Once cooked, turn off the stove
  • garnish with cilantro.
  • Serves: 2 Servings as a snack/ 1 serving as a meal
