Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Red, White and Green Frosting (store bought or homemade, you can either buy colored frosting or use food coloring like I did)
  • Holiday Sprinkles
  • 20 Cookie Sticks (available at crafting stores, Walmart/Target or online)
  • Christmas Cookie Cutters

Directions

  • In a stand mixer, cream the butter and sugar together. Add in the eggs and vanilla and mix until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients. Add the dry mixture into the wet mixture, a little at a time, and mix well until a dough forms.
  • Chill the dough for at least 3 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Flour your surface and roll out the dough to about 1/4 of an inch. Use the cookie cutters to cut shapers. Insert the cookie sticks into the dough. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until just beginning to brown.
  • Transfer cookies to a wire cooling rack and cool completely.
  • Frost cookies and decorate with sprinkles.
