This french toast recipe tastes decadent but is super healthy! Perfect for a lazy Sunday morning.

Julia lives in Toronto where she works as a Registered Nurse. She is also a barre instructor and loves living a healthy lifestyle. Julia loves to create simple, quick and healthy recipes that are 8 ingredients or less!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of whole grain or sprouted bread (I used Ezekiel bread)
  • 2 bananas, sliced
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

Directions

  • Preheat skillet at medium high heat, add coconut oil.
  • In a small bowl mix almond milk, egg and ½ tbsp cinnamon
  • Fully submerge slices of bread into egg mixture until they are soft, and place in skillet immediately after.
  • Cook 3-5 minutes each side until golden brown.
  • For the caramelized bananas, preheat a pan to medium high heat, add coconut oil, maple syrup and ½ tbsp cinnamon.
  • Wait for two minutes (until maple syrup mixture starts to bubble), and then add the bananas into skillet.
  • Cook bananas for about 5 minutes, until they are golden and soft.
  • Remove from skillet and serve with french toast.
  • Serves: 2
