This recipe for Grilled Indian Tandoori Chicken is a spin off that you can prepare at home. Recipe History Tandoori is a style of cooking that is common on the Indian subcontinent.   I was first introduced to it by a friend of Indian heritage. If you are unfamiliar with Indian food, I would strongly suggest going with someone familiar with the dishes.  But, I also recommend (if possible) going with group of people that are open to ordering a bunch of different things to sample. The origins of this particular recipe are attributed to Tiffany at Creme de la Crumb. You can find the original recipe at: http://www.lecremedelacrumb.com/grilled-tandoori-chicken/ The Tandoor Tandoor dishes are traditionally prepared in a clay oven called a tandoor that cooks at exceptionally high heat. A number of different things are cooked in this oven including naan (bread), chicken, or lamb. Recipe Ingredients This recipe will be prepared on a gas grill instead of a tandoor oven. First, the chicken will be bathed in a yogurt and citrus based marinade with a blend of seasonings. The seasonings will include graham masala, ginger, coriander, cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Directions I prefer breast meat and like to have a consistent thickness so that it cooks evenly. Therefore, I slice each breast in half lengthwise to create two pieces. My chicken breast is then placed in a storage bag or container with the marinade. I marinade it for at least 30 minutes. I prefer to take the chicken out of the refrigerator 15 minutes before grilling. Marinading Tandoori Chicken I grill my chicken at 450 degrees. For this recipe, I grilled it for approximately 5 minutes per side. You will want to be sure that your chicken is cooked to an internal temp of 165. A meat thermometer is helpful. I like to garnish it with chopped fresh cilantro leaves and either lemon or lime wedges. Peanuts or green pinions would also make a nice addition.   var hupso_services_t=new Array(Twitter,Facebook,Google Plus,Pinterest,Tumblr,StumbleUpon,Email,Print);var hupso_background_t=#EAF4FF;var hupso_border_t=#66CCFF;var hupso_toolbar_size_t=small;var hupso_twitter_via = thymetocreate1;var hupso_image_folder_url = ;var hupso_twitter_via=thymetocreate1;var hupso_url_t=;var hupso_title_t=Grilled Indian Tandoori Chicken;{@context:http:\/\/schema.org\/,@type:Recipe,name:Grilled Indian Tandoori Chicken,author:{@type:Person,name:Gina},datePublished:2016-12-04 13:36:10,image:https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/thymetocreate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/DSC1496.jpg?fit=3648%2C5472&ssl=1,description:,recipeCategory:Dinner,recipeCuisine:Indian} Grilled Indian Tandoori Chicken Print Recipe CourseDinner, Entree, Supper CuisineIndian Grilled Indian Tandoori Chicken Print Recipe CourseDinner, Entree, Supper CuisineIndian Share this Recipe Related
