Joyce's Molasses Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

Produce
- 1 1/4 tsp Gound ginger

Refrigerated
- 1 Egg

Condiments
- 1/4 cup Molasses

Baking & Spices
- 1 tsp Cinnamon, ground
- 1/2 tsp Clove, Ground
- 2 cup Flour
- 1 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 3/4 cup Shortening

Other
- 1 t soda

Description

These cookies are a must in our home. If my husband could only have 1 cookie for Christmas this would be it. We go through 2-3 batches, and I know my mother-in-law makes several if everyone is coming in.

Directions

Mix all ingredients except 1/2 c granulated sugar. Cool in refrigerator for at least an hour. Roll into 1 balls then in the extra sugar. place on greased cookie sheet about 2 apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
