Description

Making allergen friendly food fun for the family

A nostalgic summertime edible craft that you can do with your kids that will make you want to roll up your sleeping bag and sign up for camp.

So happy you stopped by over at Fork & Beans: the allergen-friendly way to play with your food. Dont stop here at this recipe, check out other goodies that are gluten, egg, and dairy free but full of taste and creativity.

Ingredients

  • 6 gluten free ice cream cones
  • ½ c. nondairy chocolate chips, melted
  • 15 gluten free pretzel sticks, snapped in half
  • 2 pieces of red-colored hard candy
  • 6 allergen friendly cookies (store bought or homemade)
  • cacao nibs

Directions

  • With a pair of kitchen scissors, carefully cut out an opening in your gluten free ice cream cone as well as the top (make sure the opening on the top is wide enough to fit a pretzel piece).
  • Dip the bottom and top into the melted chocolate and set down on a cookie of choice. I made cut out cookies from my graham cracker recipe but you can just use a favorite store bought cookie if you like.
  • Place a half piece of a gluten free pretzel stick into the top opening.
  • With a toothpick, dab the melted chocolate around the sides of the tent and add the cacao nibs (which look so similar to rocks).
  • Snap two gluten free pretzel sticks in half and use the melted chocolate as glue to hold down. Place in the opening of the tent to portray fire logs.
  • Take two red hard candies and place on a parchment paper-lined plate and microwave for 20 seconds or until just melted. Allow to set fully and then break up. Glue into the pretzels logs as fire.
  • Take a piece of broken up ice cream cone and glue it onto the top of the tent to look like a flag. Remember at this point to Salute Your Shorts.
  • Allow to fully set.
