Upside Down Chocolate Cherry Cake

  • 2 1/4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 21 oz can Cherry pie filling
  • 3/4 cup Cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 3/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups White sugar

• Oils & Vinegars

  • 1/4 cup Distilled white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable oil

• Liquids

  • 1 1/2 cups Water

Directions

• Grease a 9 x 13" pan and spread the pie filling evenly in the bottom. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Then take a second bowl and mix the water, oil, vinegar and vanilla. Dump liquid ingredients into dry. Stir. Pour over the cherry pie filling. Bake at 350 deg for 35 minutes. Invert cooled cake onto a serving dish. Serve with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and more cherries.
