Puff Pastry Samosa is a fusion appetizer where the pastry puff sheets are filled with samosa filling of potatoes and green peas. A fun and tasty snack for all.

Ingredients

  • Filling recipe
  • 2-3 potatoes
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 tsp urad dal
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • 2-3 minced garlic
  • 3 green chillies, chopped
  • 4-5 curry leaves
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1/4 cup green peas
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp dhania jeera powder
  • 2-3 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • Salt as required
  • 2 Puff pastry sheets
  • Green chutney as required
  • Sweet Tamarind chutney as required
  • Milk as required

Directions

  • First we need to prepare the filling. Boil and mash the potatoes and keep it aside. Heat oil in a pan and temper mustard seeds. They fry urad dal till it turns golden. Now add minced ginger, garlic, curry leaves and green chillies. Fry for 2 minutes and then add the chopped onions. Continue to fry till they turn translucent. Then add spinach and frozen green peas along with salt. Mix and cook for 4-5 minutes. Its time to add the dry spices. Add turmeric powder and dhania jeera powder. Mix and fry the masala for one more minute. Then add the mashed potatoes and chopped cilantro. Give it a good mix so that the masala coats well to the potatoes. Take the pan off the flame and let it cool. Thaw puff pastry sheets and cut them in squares. Spread some green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney in the center of the each square sheet. Add a spoonful of potato filling over it. With a brush, apply milk on all the sides of the squares, Fold into a triangle and press the edges with a fork to create a design and also seal it. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F and bake these puffs for 15-20 minutes or till they puff up well and turn golden brown. Take them out and let them cool for a minute. Pastry Puff Samosas are ready! Serve them warm with ketchup/chutney.
