Strawberries and Cream Hand Pies

  • 6 tbsp White chocolate chip

Description

Ingredients

• 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts per box), thawed per the directions on the box
• 2-3 tablespoons strawberry pie filling
• 2-3 tablespoons white chocolate chips
• 1 egg
• 1 tablespoon water
• Coarse sugar or sugar in the raw (for sprinkling on top of the hand pies)
• 1/4 cup white chocolate chips, melted (optional drizzle)

Directions

• Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
• Unroll the crusts and cut out circles using a cookie cutter or cup to get the size that you want.  (I used a cup to get the size circles that I wanted).  I was able to get 9 circles per crust.
• Place half of the circles on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
• Place 1 teaspoon of strawberry pie filling in the center of each circle on the cookie sheet. Make sure the pie filling does not spread all the way to the edges. This might not look like a lot, but if you put too much more the filling will explode out during baking.  Then place 1 teaspoon of white chocolate chips on top of the strawberry pie filling.
• Whisk the egg and water together until combined to form the egg wash.  Brush the inside edges of the circles with the egg wash.  Then place the remaining circles on top of the pies.  Use a fork to crimp and seal the edges of the pies.
• Brush the top of the pies with the egg wash.  Then sprinkle the sugar on top of the pie crusts.
• Bake for 13-15 minutes or until golden brown.
• Allow the pies to cool for about 5 minutes then drizzle the melted white chocolate on top of the pies.  This recipe makes about 9 hand pies.
